Man Dies At Porter Station After Being Struck By Red Line Train

A 66-year-old man was struck and killed by a train at Porter Station on Sunday morning, according to a statement from MBTA Transit Police.

Police said the man was on the tracks in the northbound tunnel when he was hit by a Red Line train at about 7 a.m. Emergency personnel responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene as a result of his injuries.

A temporary bus shuttle was set up for MBTA Red Line passengers between Alewife and Harvard Square stations. Normal service was resumed by 9:40 a.m.

Officials say the incident remains under investigation.
