New Hampshire will have either its first black or first openly gay congressman in the new year.

In the primary election for an open U.S. House seat, New Hampshire voters chose Democrat Chris Pappas and Republican Eddie Edwards as the final candidates.

Molly Kelly won the Democratic primary for governor and will now take on popular Republican incumbent Chris Sununu.

Boston Globe political reporter and regular WBUR contributor James Pindell joined Morning Edition to discuss the results.

This segment aired on September 12, 2018.
