Today's Weather: Skies Will Clear

The overnight mix is coming to an end this morning, but there are still slick walkways and roadways in parts of the area. The trend today is for clearing skies and milder temperatures. Readings will reach the 40s this afternoon.

Tomorrow and Saturday will be dry and seasonably mild days. Temperatures each of these days reaches 40-45 with plenty of sunshine. There will be some melting. If you want to ski this weekend, Saturday is the best day, as rain is coming for Sunday.

The second half of the weekend features an area of low pressure moving to the west of New England. As the precipitation begins there may be some mixed snow and rain, but the warm air is going to change everything to rain quite quickly.

The rain should melt a good bit of the snow that is still on the ground Sunday. I expect the rain to taper off to showers and end early in the afternoon. It’s back to dry and chilly weather for Monday and Tuesday next week.

A week from today is the end of February and meteorological winter. As it stands now, the December to February time frame is the fourth least snowy on record. There is but one week left until meteorological spring and unless something unforeseen happens, this year will end up one of the least snowy on record.
