Body Found In Remains Of Shed That Caught Fire In Ashland

Officials say a body was recovered from the remains of a burning shed in an Ashland backyard early Monday morning.

Firefighters and police extinguished the wooden outdoor utility shed at 124 Oak St. at about 1 a.m., according to a statement from Ashland police.

The body was found during a subsequent investigation. Residents of the home were accounted for during the fire, though there have been previous reports of homeless people taking shelter in the shed, officials said.

The body was taken to the chief medical examiner's officer, where officials are working to identify the person.

This report will be updated.
