Today's Weather: Sunshine Again, But Clouds Are Coming

After a clear, chilly night, temperatures this afternoon we'll get up toward or above 50 — a result of all the bright sunshine. We will see an increase in clouds later this afternoon like yesterday. This will be an ideal late March afternoon and great for early spring outdoor activities.

A cold front will approach the area late tonight and tomorrow, but it should not make it through. Since this front will stay to the north of Massachusetts we will remain in the milder air. This results in temperatures reaching near 60 tomorrow and into the mid-60s on Saturday. If the front moved further south we would be cooler than I am forecasting.

We will be so close to the frontal system and the temperature gradient that there will be a lot of cloudiness. If there were fewer clouds on Saturday, temperatures could reach 70, but the lack of sunshine will prevent that from occurring.

Rainfall should be nearly non-existent into much of Friday, but on Friday night there could be a couple of showers. Saturday still looks generally dry. Another frontal system crosses the area Saturday night and that is more likely to bring some showers, but I expect them to be after midnight so if you have any evening plans they will remain unaffected by the weather.

Unlike last weekend was Sunday was the pick of the weekend, this weekend Saturday will yield the best weather. Sunday results in more in the way of cloudiness and a better chance for showers. Early next week, skies will clear and temperatures will be seasonably chilly.
