Today's Weather: Make Way For A Rainy, Cooler Monday

It was a humid weekend across the region, with dew points in the 60s for quite a while.

If you were enjoying the touch of summer, that's great, but in terms of our longer-term averages this weekend, humidity and overnight warmth were at the far end of the scale. In other words, we had record or near-record warms at night this past weekend. It was as if what occurred last fall just resumed.

The system which brought the showers to the area has now moved to the east. Another low pressure system and an area of inclement weather will push through today and bring more showers. This is a coastal system and will bring a period of rain and perhaps downpours and even thunder later this afternoon.

The showers will affect the evening commute and since school vacation week is over, it may be a particularly long ride home this evening.

Temperatures will still average warmer than is typical for the time of year, although the humidity has now come down a bit.

This week still looks fairly mild, although later in the week, I expect it to turn cooler and we'll see more of a northwesterly flow of air. There is a still a full week of April left and it would not be unusual to have a morning or two still in the 30s.

The average temperature in April rises about 10 degrees, and now that we are near the end of the month, the average high is around 60.
