Memorial Day Weekend Weather: Mostly Sunny

After a few overnight showers, skies today will feature clouds and sunshine, with mild temperatures this morning. Later this afternoon, cooler air from eastern New England will push toward Boston and eventually the 495 belt, dropping temperatures down into the 50s. This means if you're headed out this afternoon and evening, be aware that it's going to feel quite chilly by the end of the day.

I can't rule out an evening sprinkle, but generally it's going to become clear and comfortably cool for sleeping overnight tonight. This will set us up for a glorious day on Saturday with plenty of sunshine and temperatures getting into the mid-70s.

A frontal system will cross the region on Saturday night and brings about a few showers which should depart Sunday morning. As I mentioned the past couple of days if the forecast is going to change or be wrong, it would be because the showers linger a little longer Sunday morning. Even if this happens, it's still going to be a great day on balance, with temperatures getting into the 80s in Greater Boston and the 60s and 70s over Cape Cod and the Islands.

Memorial Day right now looks nice with plenty of sunshine, although there may be some increasing clouds later on in the afternoon, with temperatures in the 70s. This is the final weekend of meteorological spring. Meteorological summer begins next week and it may feel that way.

We are looking at the possibility of some 80 to 90 degree weather during the middle part of next week so stay tuned and get ready to water your plants and lawn.
