16-Year-Old Teen Charged With Assault To Murder In Whitman Stabbing

Police say a 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with "assault to murder" in the stabbing of another juvenile at a home in Whitman Sunday night.

The stabbing, Whitman police said in a statement Monday, occurred at around 9 p.m. on the corner of Washington Street and Belcher Drive.

Police found the male victim in the yard of a home on Belcher Drive. He was transported to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth with serious injuries, and as of Monday morning, Whitman police said he is expected to survive.

The suspect was arrested Sunday night, and a knife with roughly a 4-inch blade was found at the scene, police said. The suspect has been additionally charged with "assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury."

Both the victim and the suspect have not been identified, police said, because they are juveniles.
