Police Identify Victims Of Jamaica Plain Double Murder

On Tuesday evening, Boston police identified two men who were fatally shot Monday night in Jamaica Plain.

Christian Green, 32, of New Bedford, and Jose Martinez, 34, of Boston, were killed in what police believe was a double murder.

Officer Kim Tavares said Tuesday morning that the victims appeared to be in their late 20s or early 30s. They were shot in the area of Bolster and Mozart streets.

One man died at the scene and the other died at a local hospital, she said.

The intersection of the two streets where the shooting happened borders John F. Kennedy Elementary School and Mozart Park. Nativity Preparatory School, a Jesuit middle school for boys, is also just blocks from the location.

Boston City Councilor Matt O'Malley, whose district includes Jamaica Plain, tweeted that he'd spoken with investigators, and the incident did not appear to be "random."

No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing, Tavares says.

The deaths are the 19th and 20th murders of the year in the city.
