Woman Stabbed In Head With Scissors Released From Hospital, Suspect Arrested

A woman stabbed in the head with a pair of scissors on the Charles River Esplanade has been released from the hospital.

Massachusetts State Police say the 23-year-old Allston woman had been walking alone at around 4 p.m. Friday when 37-year-old Luis Olivo rushed her, stabbed her with a pair of scissors, tackled her to the ground and continued to hit her until she escaped.

A state police trooper chased and subdued Olivo. The victim, who police haven't named, was treated at Massachusetts General Hospital for lacerations to her head and other injuries.

Police say the victim does not appear to have known Olivo, who now faces armed assault with intent to murder and other charges.

He's being held on $100,000 cash bail and will be arraigned Monday in Boston Municipal Court.
