Man Struck And Killed By MBTA Orange Line Train
Authorities are investigating the death of a man who appears to have fallen in front of the path of a Boston subway train.
A preliminary investigation by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's Transit Police shows the unidentified male appeared "very unsteady on his feet," before stumbling and falling into the right-of-way, or pit area, before being struck by a northbound Orange Line train early Saturday morning.
The man, whose age is unknown, was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
Transit Police say their officers were called to the MBTA's State Street Station at approximately 12:14 a.m. for a report of a person possibly struck by a subway train. Both Transit Police detectives and the Suffolk County District Attorney are investigating the incident.
