State Police: Lynn Man Dead After Officer-Involved Shooting In Revere

A 32-year-old Lynn man is dead after being shot by Everett Police when a brief chase ended in Revere early Sunday morning, officials say.

State police identified the man as Oscar D. Ventura-Gonzalez in a statement released Sunday night. They say the police-involved shooting happened on Washington Avenue near the intersection with Sargent Street at about 12:30 a.m.

Everett Police pursued Ventura-Gonzalez, who was driving, into Revere where he suffered a gunshot wound, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office said in a statement. He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he died of the injury.

State police are actively investigating the shooting. The Suffolk County District Attorney's office will also investigate the use of force in the incident, which is typical for all police-involved shootings in the county.

"I'm grateful that no bystanders or members of law enforcement were injured in this morning's police-involved shooting or the sequence of events that preceded it," District Attorney Rachael Rollins said in the statement. "However, I acknowledge that a family is grieving the loss of a loved one today. I want to assure that family, the community and members of law enforcement that there will be a transparent and impartial review of this encounter in order to provide the answers that they deserve."
