Today's Weather: Drier Air, Sunshine Returning

Most of the rain missed much of the area yesterday, although Nantucket did have over 3 inches. This shows the potential of the amount of moisture that could have occurred, but the system just stayed a little further south.

The humidity levels will drop during the day today and it will become more comfortable throughout. Some clouds may linger along the coastline, but I do expect sunshine over far inland and northern areas.

Temperatures will be coolest right along the coastline the next several days. Across the Merrimack Valley, it could be as much as 5 to 8 degrees warmer than Boston. What the temperature is will really just depend on where you are, but look for a wide range over a relatively short distance.

The humidity comes back on Friday and is in full force over the weekend. Temperatures will also be on the rise, increasing from seasonable levels to above-average. We may see some 90-degree weather, either late in the weekend or more likely, early next week.

Looking deeper into the future, it's likely that the month closes out with above normal temperatures and more heat and humidity. Summer is definitely not over.
