Today's Weather: Cool Start, Mild Finish

It's cool out this morning, with temperatures in the upper 40s in a few spots, but will warm quickly. Readings will increase through the 50s into the 60s, and  eventually into the 70s this afternoon. It will be the coolest right along the coastline, with a continued sea breeze. All areas will feel quite warm with the still strong August sunshine.

The nice weather continues tomorrow, with temperatures rebounding toward and above the 80-degree mark. Cape Cod and the islands will be somewhat cooler. This trend will continue through Saturday, with temperatures in the 80s during the day and falling to the 60s at night.

A cold front will be approaching the area Wednesday, and at the same time, tropical moisture will be moving up the coastline. It appears that some of this moisture will get pulled into New England, giving us a chance for a period of steady rain Wednesday night and early Thursday. I'll have more details tomorrow as to exactly where the heaviest rain will occur.

Humidity will be going up Wednesday and it will be slightly muggy Wednesday night into Thursday. If you want to head to the beach, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday are great days. Thursday is still pretty good, but there will be more cloudiness.

School systems open across parts of the region tomorrow and the kids will certainly not need any fall attire. It may turn a bit cooler Labor Day with a couple of showers, but that's still far into the future.

On a side note, we will need to continue to watch tropical storm Dorian and see how quickly it intensifies — and what the impact, if any, will be on Puerto Rico, as well as Hispaniola.
