Today's Weather: Some Showers And Heavy Downpours Overnight

You probably noticed clouds rolling in yesterday afternoon, as a little more moisture moved north. Today we find a cold front off to the west, and at the same time, there's a tropical storm system in the Atlantic.

Over the next 12 to 18 hours, as the frontal system approaches, it will pull in some of this tropical moisture. If the system out in the ocean wasn't present, we would still be looking at scattered showers but because of that tropical plume, there could will be heavier downpours.

We have not had much rain over the past couple of weeks, so any rain is welcome because rivers and streams are relatively low. Even if we get quite a bit of rain in a few spots, there won't be any issues beyond street flooding. This is why the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for tonight.

The good news is that the heaviest of the rain will fall overnight and be coming to an end before the core of the morning commute on Thursday. Although tomorrow may start a bit murky, it does look like sunshine will quickly win out and temperatures will get into the lower 80s.

Friday and Saturday are my picks for the long weekend, but Sunday is still looking pretty nice. There may be a few showers entering the picture on Monday. Temperatures will be very warm on Friday getting into the 80s, so for those students already sitting in a classroom, parents should prepare to dress them for summer weather.
