Labor Day Weekend Forecast: Generally Fantastic Few Days Ahead In Mass.

It's here. Labor Day weekend is finally here.

Holiday weekends are cause for a bit of reflection. With meteorological summer coming to an end, it makes sense to take a brief look back at the past couple months of weather.

Overall, data will show that this ended up being a very warm summer, indeed. But, I think what is most notable won't be any extreme heat — just sustained heat. We'll take another look at the official summer tally next week.

Labor Day Weekend In New England

Today is a beautiful one with plenty of sunshine and temperatures into the 80s. Folks over Cape Cod will see readings in the 70s. There will be a bit of a breeze in the afternoon along the coastline, too.

Humidity levels will temporarily come up this afternoon ahead of a cold front. What you'll notice is a little more moisture in the air, but once that front passes, it should go by dry. The dew points will fall back and temperatures tonight will be comfortable.

Saturday is the warmest of the weekend days, as readings rise between 75 and 80 degrees. There will be a lot of sunshine. It turns a little bit cooler Sunday, but the weather will still be dry. You'll notice a few clouds in the middle of the day.

On Monday, a weather system will approach the region, but the exact effects of it remain somewhat hazy. There could be a few showers, but I can also see just some cloudiness without any precipitation. Either way it's going to be on the cooler side. Early next week will start to heat up back into the 80s and many of us will be well into the 80s on Wednesday. Have a great weekend.

Hurricane Dorian

Dorian, now a Category 4 hurricane, is predicted to hit Florida and the northern Bahamas this weekend. We will continue to watch this extremely dangerous storm this weekend as it moves closer to the U.S.

Here's its latest track:
