Today's Weather: Temperatures Climb Back Into 80s, With A Few Late Showers

Our weather starts beautiful again today, with plenty of sunshine and pleasantly cool temperatures. A cold front is approaching from the west and before it gets here, temperatures will once again rise to above the 80-degree mark.

Although there is a lot of sunshine this morning, clouds will increase this afternoon west to east. As the clouds thicken, eventually there will be some showers, starting in central Massachusetts around 2 p.m. and making it near Cape Cod by 9 p.m. In the Greater Boston area, most of the showers will occur between 5 and 7 p.m.

Not all of us will see rain this afternoon, but there could be a downpour and even a clap or two of thunder. We do need rain, as it has been quite dry this month.

Tomorrow is basically a repeat of yesterday with wall-to-wall sunshine and temperatures in the mid-70s. On Saturday, we will see an increase in humidity and temperatures. Many spots will reach or exceed 80 degrees and there might be a shower or even a thunderstorm at night. This will usher in cooler air for Sunday, when temperatures will be in the 70s.

If you are headed to the Red Sox game this weekend, you can expect comfortably warm temperatures. In terms of foliage, we are seeing an increase in color over northern New England and with all the sunshine it will be a great time to view the early color.

Wondering how long all this warm and sunny weather can last? I do see some significantly cooler weather on the horizon sometime during the second week of October. This wouldn't be a bad time to start planning for the cooler weather and check things like whether your heater is working because eventually, you're going to need it.
