Today's Weather: Less Wind, Not Quite As Cold

Wednesday was a January-like day in the middle of November. Today will be a bit better, as we're going to get rid of the wind and will increase temperatures by nearly 10 degrees this afternoon.

But don't expect it to be warm. Temperatures Wednesday stayed in the upper 20s for much of the day, and even a high in the upper 30s is cold by November standards.

Meteorologists call warm air moving into colder air warm advection, and as warm air advects northward, it will produce more in the way of cloudiness. It will also create the chance of a spotty, light rain or snow shower. There could even be some drizzle along the coastline today. Any precipitation would be light and insignificant.

Friday is my pick of the next several days. The reason I'm mentioning this is because it's going to be quite cold on Saturday and Sunday features a lot of clouds. So on Friday, we have to enjoy the sunshine as temperatures reach or even surpass 50 degrees.

Looking further ahead to next week, there are going to be a couple of areas of low pressure moving up along the coastline. It is still too early to say whether either of these storm systems will affect New England. Even if the storms came close enough to bring us some precipitation, temperatures would be too warm for any snow.
