Today's Weather: A Nice Day Before A May Arctic Jolt

If you look at the weather over the next seven days, most of it is actually quite nice with plenty of sunshine and temperatures within a few degrees of 60. Friday, as a matter of fact, is a nice day, although clouds will be on the increase. I'm expecting readings to get around 60.

An arctic front approaches overnight into Saturday and a low pressure area will develop along this frontal system. As the low works northward it will produce a period of rain, and the colder air working into the region will likely have the rain change over to some snow, especially west of I-495.

Psychologically, Saturday won't be any fun, but it doesn't last, so I'm going to use the day to get some stuff indoors completed because when the weather gets better for Mother's Day and beyond, I want to be able to get outside.

It's not out of the question that there could be a coating to an inch of snow in the highest elevations of Worcester county and back to the Berkshires.

Saturday's high temperatures will be in the 40s, about as cold as it can possibly be this time of the year.

When you get up Sunday morning ,we will all be in the 30s. The winds will keep the are mixed so it will prevent us from falling into a damaging freeze, but there could be some frost damage on the most tender of vegetation. The record low Sunday is 36 in Boston. It will be close, but we likely won't break the record.

Mother's Day is sunny and more comfortable, with less in the way of wind.

Other than the chance for a couple of showers early next week, it looks like another sunny stretch of great May weather. Have a terrific weekend.
