Today's Weather: Summer Warmth Is Coming

It was a fairly nice Memorial Day weekend for weather. We had a little bit of everything from a touch of humidity yesterday, to some beautiful blue skies on Sunday and all that wind back on Saturday.

Today we are looking at the start of a five-day streak where temperatures should exceed 80 degrees. During this time I'm not expecting much in the way of precipitation. We do have a chance of showers later Friday into Friday night. This will set the stage for some cooler and drier weather for the second part of the upcoming weekend.

The continued southerly flow of air will bring more and more humidity throughout the next several days. It will be especially humid Wednesday through early Saturday. The southerly flow of air over the relatively cool Atlantic will produce morning low clouds and fog along the South coast, Cape and the islands. This may take a little while to burn off so while inland areas could be sunny, there will be lingering grey skies along the coastline.

I don't expect we're going to see many 90-degree readings in southern New England and interestingly the chance for a 90 degree reading is higher across places like Burlington, Vermont, Sanford, Maine and even up into Northern sections of Maine because they are so far away from the cooler southerly air.

Record high temperatures this time of year are in the 90s. I don’t see much chance of breaking any records this week – although the heat index could reach 90 for a few hours by the end of the work week.
