Police ID Man Who Was Killed In Dorchester Shooting
Boston police on Monday identified a man who was fatally shot Saturday afternoon.
The department said Calvin Boykins, a 28-year-old resident of the city’s Dorchester neighborhood, was found suffering gunshot wounds in the hallway of a residence around 4 p.m. Saturday.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. No arrests have been made. Boykins’ death is the city’s 18th homicide of 2020.
The department also said it arrested a 19-year-old man for driving his moped through an active crime scene Saturday.
Police say Giraldy Guerrero, of Braintree, Massachusetts, was traveling at a high speed through an area that police had cordoned off with yellow crime scene tape after a man had been shot and sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The department said multiple officers shouted for Guerrero to stop, but he refused. He crashed into an officer causing non-life-threatening injuries and was detained following a foot chase and violent struggle.
Guerrero faces charges including assault and battery on a police officer, leaving the scene of an accident, and resisting arrest. It couldn’t be immediately determined if he has a lawyer.
