Massachusetts' pandemic state of emergency ends Tuesday. That comes as, this week, the number of fully vaccinated in the state is expected to clear 4 million.

Meanwhile, the latest COVID-19 variant — the so-called Delta variant — has appeared in the state. There are also still disparities in vaccination rates along racial lines.

Marty Martinez, chief of the Boston mayor's office for health and human services, joined WBUR's Morning Edition to discuss the ending of the state of emergency and the state's vaccination pace.
