Pressley Calls For White House Action On Expiring Eviction Moratorium

Massachusetts U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley continues to call for action on the lapsed federal eviction moratorium.

Pressley and two of her Democratic House colleagues slept on the steps of the U.S. Capitol last weekend to press their case.

The White House has called on states and Congress to do it.

Pressley said millions of Americans are now at risk of losing housing. She called on President Biden and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky to act.

"We must exhaust every tool available to us. The American people have run out of options, but government and those in power have not," Pressley said. "The White House and the CDC, they should act unilaterally, because that is the quickest way to mitigate this hurt."

Pressley said the administration can't afford to wait for Congress to act and should reinstate the eviction moratorium immediately, regardless of potential court challenges.
