Nearly 10,000 gallons of diesel spilled in Revere

An overturned tractor trailer in Revere spilled nearly 10,000 gallons of diesel early Wednesday morning, according to the state Department of Environmental Protection.

The DEP has deployed cleanup crews to the area near the Brown Circle rotary, which it expects will take most of the day. Parts of Route 60 were closed because of the spill.

The U.S. Coast Guard was also on site to evaluate environmental impact to any waterways, including the Saugus River.

The extent of any environmental or wildlife harm is not yet clear.
