We have some big news: The first episode of The Common, our new daily podcast on all things happening in Greater Boston, just dropped! We’re starting off with a look at what the region’s growing Latino community thinks of Question 4, a referendum on the new law allowing undocumented residents to get a driver’s license.

Give it a listen today while you commute to work, do the dishes or go for a walk (it’s great weather for it). And make sure to subscribe!

After crushing the previous temperature record for Nov. 6 yesterday, Boston could do it again today. According to the National Weather Service, the city is expected to meet the Nov. 7 record of 77 degrees (which was first set in 1938). It’s already in the high 60s.

Today marks the beginning of the state’s annual “Deer Management Program” at Blue Hills Reservation. In other words, archers will be allowed to hunt deer in about a third of the park from now through the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

  • Why? Officials say the reservation simply has too many deer, which risks potential overbrowsing. They say thinning out the population will help plants and trees regrow, and prevent invasive species from spreading.
  • General access to the park will not be restricted during the hunt, though visitors who enter the designated hunting areas are advised to wear orange clothing, vests or hats.

The Boston Bruins are parting ways with Mitchell Miller, reversing course after NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman declared Saturday that the 20-year-old defenseman is not currently eligible to play in the league. The reason: a 2016 conviction for bullying a Black classmate with developmental disabilities as a middle schooler.

  • Miller was originally drafted in 2020 by the Arizona Coyotes, who cut him weeks later as the details of his bullying and alleged racist comments came to light. He went on to play last season (and set records) in a junior ice hockey league. The Bruins signed Miller on Friday — but cut him Sunday after Bettman’s comments.
  • What they’re saying: Bruins President Cam Neely said the team will be “reevaluating our internal processes for vetting” potential players and apologized to Isaiah Meyer-Crothers, the student Miller bullied. You can read his full statement here.

P.S.— If you’re feeling a little more well rested this morning, thank the extra hour we got yesterday from the switch back from Daylight Saving Time. While the Senate passed a bill last winter to abandon the twice-a-year time change, that legislation has since stalled in the House. The Washington Post article has a good update here on the disagreements and concerns holding back its abolishment.
