2 people are dead, 2 injured after Sunday shootings in downtown Boston and Mattapan

Two people are dead and another two are injured from gunshot wounds following a spate of shootings in Boston Sunday night, according to the police department.

Officers responded around 8:30 p.m. to a shooting at Wildwood Street in Mattapan, Boston police said in a statement. Police say they found two men injured by gunshot wounds. The victims were brought to the hospital; one died and the other is in critical condition.

Later Sunday night, police say two more gunshot victims arrived at local hospitals, who did not appear to have a connection to the first two victims, or each other. One was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other has "non-life threatening gun shot wounds," according to police. Officials say that person was shot around 35 Kingston St. in downtown Boston.

In audio provided to the Boston Globe of a police press conference, officials said they were still investigating if there was a connection between the shootings, but believe the incident that killed the third gunshot victim was separate from the Wildwood Street shooting.
