"Is This a Great Game, or What?"

With the possible exception of Buck O'Neal, baseball has never had a more energetic booster than Tim Kurkjian.

Tim believes that our children would be a lot better off if they watched more television, or at least more baseball games on television.

"Is This a Great Game, or What?" is a collection of some of the stories Tim has heard over the course of his long career covering baseball for ESPN, ESPN.com, ESPN Radio, and, of course, "Only A Game." Tim being Tim, very few of the stories are ugly. A couple of them contain language that baseball players use, but only the ones that would be ruined by the failure to include that language.

Some of what Tim has to say will seem unlikely to readers who don't appreciate the game as fully as Tim does. He contends that baseball players are necessarily the bravest, toughest, and most versatile athletes on the planet. I'm not sure anybody on the planet but Tim believes this, but he is magnificently entertaining when defending his position.

This is one of those reviews to which I have to append a disclaimer, since Tim and I are friends, but even if I didn't know and like him, I'd recommend his book.
