With fewer than 50 games to go, baseball's pennant and wild card races are heating up. ESPN's Tim Kurkjian joins Bill to discuss the contenders, the pretenders, and whether or not Tim still has hope for the Chicago Cubs.

Every so often soccer produces a one-name star. The latest is Marta, who plays for the WPS's Los Angeles Sol and is the current FIFA Female Player of the Year. Bill has a profile of this world class athlete.

This week the founder of the Special Olympics, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, died at the age of 88. Dr. Gary Siperstein spent years working with Kennedy Shriver on projects to help children, including Camp Shriver. Siperstein joins Bill to talk about her legacy and the impact of the Special Olympics.

In his book "College Football and American Culture in the Cold War Era," Kurt Edward Kemper argues the sport was used to help galvanize anti-Communist feelings in the United States.
