Sing U.C.L.A. by the World Famous University of Michigan Band (from 41 Great College Victory Songs, Vanguard, 1987)

I have three questions regarding this record:

1) On the UCLA fight song, shouldn’t John Wooden be singing, or playing tuba or something?
2) The first track is Ohio State’s fight song. Should the Michigan Band, world famous or not, be entrusted with the playing of their archrivals’ fight song? Sounds like a classical fight song cd conflict of interest to me.
3) Where’s the Butler fight song, already?

Too Darn Hot by Ella Fitzgerald (from The Cole Porter
Songbook, Vol. 1, Verve, 1984)

This should be the Snuggie theme song, really. And that’s as far as I go on that subject.

Kansas City by KC Jones (from For Love of Song, self-released, 2007)

Is there anything this guy can’t do? Two NCAA championships, an Olympic gold medal, 8 consecutive NBA championships with the Celtics (as a player) and two championships as head coach of the Celtics (not to mention a near miss with Washington in 1975)…and a CD of classics like The Girl from Ipanema, Fly Me to the Moon and Old Cape Cod? I give up…I just give up right now.

Duke Fight Song by The USC Trojan Marching Band (from Fight Songs, Delta, 1989)

Again, where’s the Butler fight song? And can we have the Duke Band record it? Please?

Mickey Mantle Rookie Card by Chip Monk (from Diamond Cuts: Turning Two, Hungry for Music, 1998)

A tribute to The Mick from The Monk (if that really is his name…The Monk, that is).

This program aired on April 8, 2010. The audio for this program is not available.
