Swallow That by Superchunk (from On the Mouth, Matador, 1992)

Ever noticed the propensity of ‘90’s bands to be as vague as possible? Firstly, the title “swallow that” (in lower case throughout the CD package) is a wobbly syntactical construct. OK, fine. At least the words “swallow that” are sung at various points.

The Price is Right Theme from Television’s Greatest Hits: Remote Control, TVT, 1996)

Hmmmm….maybe I’ve gone overboard with the TV songs this week. Oh, well…too late.

Cyclone (from The Wizard of Oz Soundtrack, Rhino Movie Music, 1995)

One of my favorite “songs” from the movie. I’m thinking of having it ready to play full blast on school mornings when my kids won’t get out of bed.

War Dance of the Wooden Indians by Russ Case and His Orchestra (from Space Age Pop Vol.2: Mallets in Wonderland, RCA, 1995)

I don’t know what to say about this one…I just like it.

When You’re Smiling by Eddie Layton (from Ya Gotta Have Heart: A Msuical Celebration of 3o Years with the Yankees, Silva, 1997)

It’s been a sad few years for the Yankees…first Eddie Layton passed away in 2004; now the deaths of Bob Sheppard and George Steinbrenner. It’s tough to be a Yanks fan…except for all the World Series victories, the new ball park and all that stuff.
