Music from the Show

Dallas by Johnny Winter (from Johnny Winter, Sony, 1990)

I had no idea that the estimable Mr. Winter had written the theme song for the popular TV series…

Stars and Stripes Forever by The Heritage Choir and Orchestra (from American Pride, BCI Music, 2001)

The front cover of this cheesy CD declares that “A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this CD will go to the Salvation Army”. Which is all well and good, but why didn’t they just cobble together a nifty little Salvation Army Band and do the Sousa the way it was meant to be done; namely with real brass instruments and not $15 electronic keyboards?

We Welcome You to Munchkin Land (from The Wizard of Oz Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, Rhino, 1995)

Only A Game’s veteran listeners may remember that we’ve used this before, and they’d be right to point that out, but it’s irresistible to use it again…and again.

Effigy by Creedence Clearwater Revival (from Willy and the Poor Boys, Fantasy, 2000)

From America’s Beatles.

The Winner Takes it All by ABBA (from ABBA Gold, Polydor, 1992)

Hey, Annika brought them up, not me. I’m just going with a musical suggestion from a Swede with good taste.

This segment aired on November 6, 2010. The audio for this segment is not available.
