Hungry Like the Wolf by Duran Duran (from Rio, Capitol, 1982)

According to the Amazon review by Beth Bessmer, the ballads on Rio "...tear your heart right out of your chest and abandon it bleeding on a rain-soaked, cobblestone street." Wait, wasn't that a line from one of said ballads?

Time Stands Still by Gary Lewis and the Playboys (from The Complete Liberty Singles, Collector's Choice, 2009)

Did you know that Gary Lewis is the son of Jerry Lewis? I had no idea until I researched him for this blog. Maybe that would explain why the band had so many songs with the lyric "Hey, laaaaaaaaaaady!!!" and why they're huge in France.

Animals by Robots in Disguise (from We're in the Music Biz, President Records, 2008)

Nice to see the youngsters digging deep into the Kwerkee Reservoir of Nu-Wave Absurdity. I'm all for it.

This segment aired on March 19, 2011. The audio for this segment is not available.
