With the MLB trade deadline fast approaching, this season's contending teams are scrambling to create the perfect lineup.  Bill Littlefield gets ESPN's Tim Kurkjian's thoughts on the baseball season thus far.

Carlos Beltran is headed to California after the Mets traded their star center fielder to the Giants this week.  While San Francisco fans are welcoming Beltran with open arms, Beltran's departure signifies the end of the Mets' season. Kurkjian explains to Bill, "[The Mets] are not good enough to catch the Braves or the Phillies."

In addition to the trade discussion, Kurkjian  shares his thoughts on some of the wacky moments of the MLB season.  A nineteen inning game that ended with a bad call, a mediocre pitching performance that turned into a no-hitter and two teams that are unexpectedly in playoff contention.

This segment aired on July 30, 2011.
