If only I knew Icelandic, I could let you know what the heck this is. Any help out there? You're an NPR listener…admit it.
Great Zamboni of Devotion by The Zambonis (from Play- Off Fever!, Tarquin Records, 1997
The Great Zamboni of Devotion took its usual spot at the head on this year's Parade of the Zambonis. And, once again, Georgie Carter and I have placed our lawn chairs out on Boylston Street in anticipation of another Bruins Stanley Cup win. Yah.
Workaday World by Jack Beaver (from Music for TV Dinners, Scamp, 1997)
This pluckily plucked and effervescent diapason is a longtime favorite of Only A Game listeners. Those familiarly flighty and frivolous figures make it easy to imagine oneself as a 1950′s supermarket stock boy, the Chief Seamstress of a successful pre-Elvis drapery business or just a staff member of NPR’s only sports program.
Surfer's Holiday by Annette (from Muscle Beach Party, Vista, 1964)
I'm assuming this is by Ms. Funicello who, judging by the fact that she's listed only as "Annette" on this record, out-princed Prince by about 15 years.
Motorcycle Mama by Sailcat (from Motorcycle Mama, Elektra, 1972)
I was pretty attuned to bad rock and roll back in 1972, so how did I miss this band?
