Joyous, Jolly, Merry, Happy: Bill's Holiday Wishes
Resume
Joyous, jolly, merry, happy,
Let me not become too sappy
As I herein now intend
Warmest wishes to extend
For a holiday so bright
That all your games come out just right.
May the basketball not knock
From the shelf your fav’rite clock
No one wants to see a rift
Caused by someone’s bouncing gift
May the fam’ly gathered round
The table never hear the sound
Of sour louts who loudly claim
They only want to watch the game.
But if you’re inclined to watch,
May your fav’rites never botch
Their chances. Be they proud or humble,
May they never foul or fumble.
And, if you’re a baseball fan,
And your team’s done all it can
To hold in place its biggest heroes
Writing checks with lots of zeroes
Let us hope with every ounce
Of hope we have the checks won’t bounce.
Time will not allow reports
Pertaining to the other sports
But don't assume that we don't care
Because your favorite game's not there
May the gifts o'erflow your locker
Whether it is golf or soccer
Tennis, bowling, cards or darts
That warms the cockles of your hearts
Season's greetings all the same
From us to you, Only A Game
