Music On Only A Game

Music On Only A GameGopher Mambo by Yma Sumac (from Mambo, The Right Stuff, 1962)

This marks the first time we've used a song sung by an Incan princess descended from the last Incan emperor. It would seem that, as such, she should have been above this "Gopher Mambo" business.

National Anthem of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea by The Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra (from Complete National Anthems of the World, Marco Polo Records, 1998)

We have not been able to confirm reports that the late Dear Leader composed this anthem while shooting holes-in-one on the golf course or while rolling perfect strings on the lanes of Pyongyang.

Don't Sell Yourself Short by Omar (from The Collection, Decca, 2007)

Ok, Omar. We won't.

Winter Wonderland by Chet Baker (from Yule Struttin': A Blue Note Christmas, Blue Note, 1990)

I like Baker's style: a guardedly happy "let's get it over with" approach. It's how I usually deal with the holidays.
