US aircraft have struck targets in Afghanistan for a second night running, starting a campaign that officials say may go on for years. Secretary to Defense Donald Rumsfeld said today it will be more like the Cold War. It will be long, multi-layered and unrelenting, with the US leading the way. This evening we assess the military news of the day and look ahead at how the campaign is likely to unfold.
