The September 11th attacks took most of the world by complete surprise. But not Steven Emerson. The investigative journalist had been tracking militant Islamic activity in America for over a decade and had seen firsthand how active these groups were within our borders, often without the government even being aware.

Emerson says that few people took him seriously before radical Islamic terrorism hit the United States on its own soil. But the attacks corroborated what Emerson has been saying for years.

"We now know more about terrorists using deception to commingle in our society and exploiting the freedoms we enjoy, which is what I've said for years," Emerson says.

Although he is now taken more seriously, Emerson is not without his critics, who worry that his writings defame Muslims as a whole.

Steven Emerson continues to track militant Islam within the United States. But he has taken his research underground, as several Islamic groups have reportedly placed him on their hit lists.

Is America in danger of another terrorist attack? This hour, Steven Emerson speaks on the continuing activities of militant Muslims working inside the United States.

Guests:

Steven Emerson, Executive Director of The Investigative Project, the largest intelligence and data-gathering center in the world on militant Islamic activities

author of "American Jihad: The Terrorists Living Among Us"

This program aired on March 5, 2002.
