The Persuasions: The Grandfathers of A Cappella
ResumeFor four decades the Persuasions have been keeping alive the art of a cappella music and they do much more than just the do-wop and gospel tunes you'd expect. The Persuasions jump through genres as quickly as they do notes. Country-western, psychedelic rock, children's tunes and reggae are not spared from a Persuasions concert.
Their music has inspired many other groups from Boys II Men to Take Six. This hour, the Persuasions perform live in our studio and discuss the art of a cappella music.
Guests:
Jerry Lawson, lead singer
Jimmy Hayes, bass vocalist
Joe Russell, tenor
Raymond Sanders, tenor
Jayotis Washington, baritone
This program aired on June 14, 2002.
