Chasing the Rodeo

Writer W. "Kip" Stratton grew up in Oklahoma, a rodeo-loving boy who lost his father to the lore of the circuit. His mother took him to his first rodeo in utero. Now, he has taken to the circuit himself, to lay out the origins and culture of the rodeo.

He headed south and west from Prescott and Pecos to San Antonio and Deadwood for a rough-and-tumble tour of the rodeo world, of bull riding and barrel racing, saddle broncs and calf roping.
