Bombshells exploded all over this week. Imus is out, finished at CBS. The Duke lacrosse boys are cleared. Literal bombshells went off on that big, ruined bridge in Baghdad and in the Iraqi Parliament building.

And in the lives of US military families and their soldiers, there was another kind of bombshell — tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan will be stretched by months for people and a force already stretched.

We've got a week of missing White House e-mails, Bush back on the border, Congress back on stem cells, and the word "ho" all over the mainstream news.

This hour On Point: our weekly news roundtable goes behind the headlines with you.

Guests:

Tony Blankley, editorial page editor Washington Times

Jack Beatty, On Point news analyst, senior editor at the Atlantic Monthly

Carol Washington, columnist for the Chicago Sun Times

This program aired on April 13, 2007.
