With televangelist Jerry Falwell's death this week, the story of his Moral Majority crusade has been very much in the news again.

British historian Ben Wilson, has been looking at the moral majority movement of another era — from the licentious, libertine, anything goes Britain of the wild 18th century to the mother of all buttoned-up, moral majority moments — the Victorian Age.

It's quite a story, of sex and virtue, liberty and law - a real showdown over what makes the truly good and free life.
