Idina Menzel is a Broadway star so big she makes fans scream.

She played Maureen in “Rent” and the wicked witch in “Wicked." Now she’s on Fox TV’s “Glee."

She came up as a wedding and bar mitzvah singer, who would belt whatever song you asked for with a famously big set of lungs.

Off Broadway, on the other side of her life, she’s always had an eye on the pop music charts, where Beyonce and Mariah Carey ruled. But it’s hard to cross over.
