The tax deal is done. 139 House Democrats and 138 Republicans, voting last night for the deal Barack Obama cut with GOP leadership. Tax cuts for all, rich included.  Bipartisanship, of a tortured sort.

Afghanistan, big this week, as the admnistration says it's "on track" to achieve U.S. goals. But is it really?

Julian Assange is out, with an ankle bracelet and no passport. A Virginia judge says no to health care reform. A Madoff is dead. So is Richard Holbrooke. And Larry King says so long.

Our weekly news roundtable goes behind the headlines.
