Nobel Peace Prize Winners On On Point

Three female activists, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Leymah Gbowee and Tawakkul Karman will share the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize, it was announced today. The committee in Norway said the award was given "for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women’s rights to full participation in peace-building work."

The committee noted added in their announcement that "We cannot achieve democracy and lasting peace in the world unless women obtain the same opportunities as men to influence developments at all levels of society."

Over the years, we’ve had four winners  of the Nobel Peace Prize on the show, including Henry Kissinger, Jimmy Carter, Barack Obama, and Elie Wiesel.
