Billy Crystal, Robin Williams and Ronald Reagan Walk Into A Funeral

Tom covered a full slate of things in his charming, comic conversation with actor-comedian Billy Crystal on our Friday show. But for the On Point staff, our favorite moment was when the comedian detailed his quirky relationship with fellow big-name comedic actor Robin Williams.

Billy Crystal: I have a lot of very close dear friends and when we do get together we can kid each other a little bit, but we never really compare notes...

There's some good-natured ribbing that can go on.

Robin [Williams] and I have some intensely funny phone sessions i'll just leave it at that...

But Crystal didn't leave it at that.

Billy Crystal: Usually when somebody famous dies, the phone rings.

And usually it's a big ticket item, it's someone who's a fairly good target. When Ronald Reagan passed away, I'm watching the funeral and boom: the phone rings and I know who it is.

And it's, 'Bill? Bill? Hey, it's Ronnie! You know, it's a lot hotter here in Heaven.'

You know sir, I'm not sure it's hot there.

'Well maybe that's why Nixon's in a Jacuzzi.'

It just goes on and on, and we have some classic conversations that actually, we should turn into an album. It would be hilarious.
