Our Week In The Web, March 21, 2014

This article is more than 5 years old.

While you might not necessarily believe it, it's spring up here in the northern hemisphere, and that means that only good and bright shiny warm things are on the way. (NOBODY ASKED YOU, SLATE.)

We had a pretty heady week here at On Point, with some far-ranging topics that spurred a lot of interesting conversations on air and on the web. From the role of the Irish in American fiction, to the politics of prison reform, to even the art and alchemy of children's literature (not to mention the awesomeness of LeVar Burton). We're glad that you took so well to our themes this week, and appreciate your understanding that some shows make our staff a bit more excited than others. (LeVar. Burton, you guys. LeVar. Burton)

We'd also like to point out at this venture that you may as well call On Point Radio "Star Trek: The Next Next Next Generation," being that we've hosted not just LeVar Burton ("Star Trek: The Next Generation"), but also Leonard Nimoy ("Star Trek"), William Shatner ("Star Trek") and George Takei ("Star Trek"). We'll see you all in space, friends.

"Growing up in a proud Irish family, in a vastly Irish community in Upstate New York, my love for the culture and people of Ireland reaches deep into my soul. " (Garret K. Woodward)

"I grew up in Brian Mann's home turf, and as horrible as the prison situation is there, they compensated the employees well. Now with private prisons, they are taking away the tiny bit of good that came out of prisons, as private prison employees get paid poorly."  (esubound)
