The Clippers' Donald Sterling Banned For Life

Our hour on controversial comments from Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling -- who was formally banned from NBA games and facilities for life by the National Basketball Association late Tuesday afternoon — dug into a few of the stickier issues of his racist commentary as a reflection on our broader society.

"Sterling is so far divorced from the realities of life and society, it is stunning," guest Kevin Blackistone told us yesterday. But the ban — and the $2.5 million league-ordered fine — show that the NBA is well-aware of the realities of the modern media landscape.

Blackistone — whose very excellent Guardian column from yesterday is worth a read in light of some the questions members of the media brought during today's press conference.

"This is racism at a sensationalized level and it isn't dealing with the systematic things," Blackistone told us.

What do you think? Is this the right move by the NBA's commissioner? Should the Clippers be sold?
