Why Facebook And Twitter Had Different Priorities This Week

When it comes to social media, we know that most of you out there reach us through Facebook, rather than Twitter or Tumblr. But we also know that many of you noticed very different trends on these different social media mediums. Digiday's John McDermott explained it for us this Friday, providing revealing data about why Facebook tended to trend toward the ALS #IceBucketChallenge, while Twitter feeds showed seemingly nonstop news out of Ferguson, Missouri.

The short answer?

"Facebook is a place where people share these kind of feel good, very happy parts of their lives," McDermott told us. "Twitter has been and remains to be a great place for breaking news into continued dispatches from the front lines."

Have you seen these trends on your personal social media sites? Let us know in the comments below, or on Facebook, Tumblr and @OnPointRadio. (But bear in mind: we might see them at different times, depending on what medium you use.)
