A Trump budget this week, to cap off a week of numbers. The budget numbers? Big for defense. Slashed or gone for diplomacy, the environment, science, the arts, the poor. On healthcare, Republicans struggling to craft a change they can agree on. On wiretapping, Republican leaders say they see no evidence for President Trump’s claims. CBS News: Trump budget rolls out with proposed steep cuts to State, EPA, most other agencies -- "President Trump rolled out his first budget blueprint Thursday morning that would increase defense spending by 10 percent, funding for Homeland Security programs by 6 percent and dramatically slash funding to both the State Department and Environmental Protection Agency. The proposal covers both the current fiscal year as well as fiscal 2018, which begins Oct. 1. It does not have the force of law, and is only used as a guideline for congressional appropriators who have the power of the purse."

Tampa Bay Times: Did Trump leak his own tax return as a diversion? — "Rachel Maddow Tuesday night featured a report on Donald Trump's 2005 tax return. It was news given how little has been revealed about Trump's finances. But some suspect Trump leaked the return so as to bury the bad news facing his administration, part of a growing pattern of leaks."

NPR News: Trump Travel Ban Blocked Nationwide By Federal Judges In Hawaii, Maryland -- "U.S. District Court Judge Derrick K. Watson has issued a nationwide temporary restraining order, preventing President Trump's revised travel ban from taking effect at midnight Wednesday. Trump's executive order would have temporarily halted the U.S. refugee program and travel from six Muslim-majority countries."
